Background and Mission

At Uniworker, our mission is to help uni students find work that suits them, while helping hirers find the right person for their job. Our vision is to become the go-to work app for uni students, globally. We’re starting right here in Australia, where we plan to revolutionise the way uni students work, while addressing the need for short term help around the home and within businesses.

Our Students

Uniworker isn’t just for uni students, it’s also by uni students. From day one we’ve received advice from uni students to help create the app and all things associated with it. With their guidance, support and lived experiences, we’re able to reach our audience on a deeper level. Members of our student board have the opportunity to join our team as an employee as they develop their skills and graduate from their degrees.

“We may be new to the workforce, but we already know first-hand that traditional jobs don't align with university timetables (and any form of social life, for that matter). That's why I’m excited about Uniworker—to help our peers find flexible, safe and unstructured work that suits them. And if we can help business-owners find staff for last-minute shifts and homeowners find help ticking off their to-do lists, that’s a nice little bonus.” Charlie, Uniworker Student Team.

How it started

What started out as a few parents chatting about their children’s employment while studying, has grown into a passionate team, complemented and guided by students from local universities, and an app that continues to grow as it reaches the far corners of Australia and beyond.

We started our careers in the early days of the internet and while we might not share the same affinity for TikTok as our student board members do, we know that uni students will do any odd-job to earn money! We are applying our business knowledge to help connect students to work.

But we’re not just business owners, we’re also parents of uni students. When thinking about our own children going to uni, we want them to have independence without missing out on important classes.

We realised what a brilliant opportunity the gig economy presented to uni students wanting to make money to support their studies. However, we noticed it was difficult to connect willing workers with those who needed help. Young uni students were vulnerable to exploitation and they didn’t have the power to work their way. There had to be a better way for uni students to work. So we created Uniworker.”
